Food choices were limited. It is more like a quick lunch place, rather than a full menu German restaurant. Service was excellent and I really liked the outdoor seating area and that comes from someone who rarely like outdoor dining. The pastries look delightful. I tried the maple cheese cake...excellent.

This was my first experience! A group of four of us arrived around 1pm on a Saturday. The line was outdoors and fairly long, but it moved just as fast as a regular fast food line. Don't mistake this for fast food though! I thought the service was wonderful. One took my order, another delivered the food, and another answered a question. All were very friendly! It may be considered pricey for some (myself included) however I thought the menu was amazing, my food was amazing, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I will definitely be returning! (Ps. We had no reservation and tables were available)

Super cute and delicious place for a quick brunch! The service was fast and most of it was self-serve. The eggs benedict was very filling and I couldn't finish it. I did grab a few pastries for takeout from their bakery section, and they were incredible! Especially the cherry cheese danish. Would highly recommend checking it out.

We thoroughly enjoyed this establishment. We started with fancy little coffee drinks, which were brought out promptly. These were great to cool down with as we awaited our food. The atmosphere was chill and well kempt. We sat outside and even though it was July in NC, the way the outside seating area is shaded, it didn't feel too hot. The food was fantastic and the portions are generous. There's also a bakery for desert if you're not too full.

Guglhupf Bakery in Durham is a charming bakery with a cozy and welcoming ambiance. The Dirty Chai is delightful, perfectly spiced and smooth. The Eggs Benedict is also quite tasty, made with fresh ingredients and well-balanced flavors. The service is great, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a relaxing breakfast or brunch.

I see why this place is so popular...the baked goods are magnificent! This was my first trip to the Durham location and boy did I pick the wrong time to visit. It is packed on Sundays during the church rush. Nonetheless, I found a parking spot (since they have a lot of spaces) and stood in the outdoor line to order. Pastries are available to-go at the indoor counter with little to no line. Although it was a hot, humid day, I did prefer ordering at the outdoor counter and eating at a table inside as opposed to full table service. Thankfully menus were available at a couple receptacles outside. That way you are ready to order when you reach the counter. After ordering and paying, we received a number and found a table upstairs. We chose to sit inside mainly due to the heat and loud music playing outside. The outdoor seating area, however, looks beautiful with the overarching vines. Our food arrived faster than expected and everything was accurate. We enjoyed all of the items and brought most of it home since the portions are large. To-go containers, utensils, napkins, and water were all located nearby (self-serve). I particularly recommend the spicy tofu sandwich, almond schnecke, and hummingbird muffin. The sandwich was served on a perfect pretzel roll. Overall, excellent place for breakfast, lunch, brunch, or dinner based on the food quality, price, portions, and friendly employees. I'm looking forward to returning to enjoy some of their other menu items!

Really fantastic German restaurant to go to! Loved the quirky yet comforting feel of the restaurant. I loved that it had two stories and had plentiful amounts of seating. The wood construction and high ceilings really made you feel like you were at a German pub in Bavaria. I got the Teller Wurst and it was delicious! The sausages were plump and juicy, yet had a delicious snap to them when you cut into them. The braised cabbage had just enough vinegar to cut through the richness of the sausage. I loved the spaetzle. Made for a delicious side of carbs that isn't your traditional mashed potatoes or rice. Service was good overall. The waitress was cheerful and helpful, but being on the second floor, sometimes it can be difficult to get their attention. But overall, still a wonderful place that I would love to come back to in order to try more items :)

What a lovely place! Between the wonderful food and everything to look at, I loved this. Finding the entrance can be a challenge. You grab an ever changing menu (hint the menu on the website, is NOT the menu they had today!). Once you know what you want, you go up to a window to order and pay. They hand you a number, and you either find a table, or you have someone finding a table while you order. You place the number on the pole on your table and wait. They bring your food to your table, but you have to go get your own butter, straws, silverware, etc, from a table by the wall. I enjoyed my food immensely. The Avacado Eggs Benedict was super flavorful with every single bite. You can order your bakery items at the window with your food. Or you can go into the little bakery and order there.

Came back with friends for brunch because we really enjoyed the cafe. The staff is wonderful and it wasn't too long of a wait even though it's graduation weekend. I got the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. My partner and a friend got a croissant sandwich and it was good, the egg was too over cooked and a little burnt. The chicken avocado panini was also pretty good. Another friend went to the bakery to get a quiche and it wasn't great. Overall, beautiful space to be in with friends & family.

Amazing experience! Family went for brunch on Saturday, very busy, but we found a table rather soon. Indoors and outdoors both look very nice. Between all of us we had a variety of food, omelets, Benedict's, sandwiches and off course a bunch of pastries. Everything was delicious. I had the Smørrebrød, smoked trout sandwich with pickled red onions, greens and crème fraiche, all the ingredients went well together, and it was veryyyy filling. The pancakes very fluffy refreshing with fruits. Overall serving size is generous! All the desserts were good, but the chocolate tart and apricot panna cotta stood out.
